Harrisburg Christian Church (HCC) has been in existence since 1863. The steeple and bell tower building are supported by hand-hewn beams pegged together from timbers hauled by wagon from Crawfordsville to construct the sanctuary. The part of their building that was built in 1869 is still in use today.
HCC is involved in many community efforts. Besides providing church services and support to their members, they are also involved in supporting God’s Storehouse, creating the Eagles Nest Playground, landscaping and beautification projects in the city, the annual Harvest Festival for children and their families, hold a school supply drive yearly, along with opening up their facility for non-profits, schools, etc. as well as their parking lot for the schools to use.
HCC is determined to reach out in different ways of service and love. They want to help and love friends and families, the local community, and those around the world by acts and words of service and care.
The advice that HCC has for other businesses is this; “This is a wonderful community of people who are hard-working folks. They love living here and are supportive of the schools and community and will patronize local businesses and groups who they respect with regards to fairness, generosity, and honesty. And growing that kind of a reputation takes time and investment. Do the work and you will not be sorry to be part of this community. They will support you.”
